Re: Child Support

If you and your daughter live in SC, unless your divorce or support order says otherwise, the support paid to your ex-spouse will stop at 18 years of age or at the time your child graduates from high school or becomes emancipated. If you child is still in school, she cannot be expected to earn a living and support herself. However, there is an oblgation to provide financial help to a child to go to college or advanced training which will alow her to become more self sufficient. This depends upon her ability to perform, ability to enter such school or training, her attempts to finance her own education, and your ability to pay.
