Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

uncontested divorce, seprtd 2 yrs already

I have been seperated 2 yrs. for unreconcileable differences. Theres nothing to split or agree on. I am looking to by a house with my boyfriend now and would like to have my divorce finalized as quick as possible. Isnt there just some paper we can both sign and just have a judge sign and that be that? What is your recommendation?

Re: uncontested divorce, seprtd 2 yrs already

If you've already been separated for over a year and there are not any issues related to finances or children, you should be able to obtain a divorce fairly quickly and rather inexpensively.

The time frame involved varies from circuit to circuit, but it is not uncommon to be able to get a divorce within four to six weeks if your spouse cooperates.

The cost involved will vary widely from area to area and lawyer to lawyer. The filing fee with the Court is $150.00 for any case. You may have a service of process fee if your spouse will not pick up the papers voluntarily.

Hopefully this information is helpful to you. You should consult a family law attorney in your area to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
