Legal Question in Personal Injury in South Carolina

I was walking on the side walk and there was a sink hole. It was not a big hole so I did not see the sink. I step into it and broke my ankle. Tried to sue state Dept. of Transpo. but they drop my case. They said that they did not know that it was problem where the accident happen at so theycan not do anything about it. I did have a lawyer but lawyer drop the case because of that. Could you give me some advise on what to do at this time. My time limit is running out.

Thanks,

Lakinda

I doubt this is what you want to hear, but the truth of the matter is that the attorney you had is in the best position to tell you what your options are. He/she is the one that knows the most about this. You might want to ask the attorney about whoever had the responsibility for maintaining that particular sidewalk. It seems like there should be more parties involved in this other than the Department of Transportation. But I really don't know for sure. I have no other information than that in which you put in your question, and that is simply not enough.

I wish you the best.
