Legal Question in Real Estate Law in South Carolina

Real Property Transfer/Tax Consequences

My father owns 116 acres of farm land in rural Aiken County, SC and he would like to transfer 20 acres to me and my husband. What is the best way to handle the tranfer of property and title without creating unnecessary tax burdens for me or my Father?

In all honesty, I would love to try and help you but I really feel that you would be better served asking a CPA that question. I handle a lot of real estate closings but a CPA is specifically trained for just that type of question. A tax attorney might also be of assistance, but I would still recommend a CPA. They do a pretty good job of staying on top of all of the changes. Good luck.
