Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Property Rights

I purchased a home and have the title, loan, deed--everything in my name. My fiance' was present during this transaction, but chose not to sign anything--the enire transaction was on me solely. He also had just moved in with me at my then apartment. We have since married and are now going through a divorce. Even after the marriage nothing was changed and is still solely in my name. Can he force me to sell the home and divide assets?

Re: Property Rights

The home is seperate property since you purchased it before the marriage. However, any increase in the value of the house after you were married would be considered marital property and your spouse would be entitled to his share of the appreciation in value.
