money withdrawn by a car rental agency

A car rental agency withdrew money from my acct without my knowledge. When i called to find out why, they adviced me that the ins co told them they sent me the money. Having a copy of the ck the car agency should have realized that the people who fixed my car were given the money & that is who they should have contacted abt the money owed to them. Instead they took the money from my acct. the car agency & collision ctr share a bldg. both having access to each others office. The car rental should have done a much better job of investigating from the insurance co as to who the collision ctr was that they dealt with. They knew for a fact that I was dealing w/collision ctr next door and 2 of their employees also knew because when collision ctr had a question for me they would come and ask me in front of them therefore they cannot deny not knowing with whom I was having my vehicle worked on.
