Child support/ custody

My daughter has a child which the x boyfriend is on the Birth certificate. He was a part of the childs birth and now they have split, and he no longer lives in our household. Can my daughter take him to court for child support and sole custody, He will buy some food or diapers when he cans. On only see's the child when convient for him. My husband and I take care of the child and my daughter 100%

Your daughter needs to file a Paternity action against the father of the child. As Mr. Grissom previously stated to you, one option is to go down and apply with the Attorney General's office for assistance in bringing this action. However, hiring a private attorney will make the case proceed faster and get money into her hands quicker. It is admirable that the father buys food or diapers when he can, but he needs to bear his share of the burden. Your daughter can apply for assistance with the local Attorney General's office for assistance in getting child support from the father. Good Luck.
