child support /custody

my son is about to be two years old and his dad hasnt really done anything for him since he has been born besides birthday and christmas gifts but i have not filed child support because i know that the judge will order joint/split custody where hes to have him every other weekend but he is in the navy so the question is is there a way that i can get full custody of him and not worry about filing child support because he hasnt done anything for him

Re: child support /custody

You have a couple of options. You could pursue termination of the father's parental rights. Doing so would sever any legal ties the father has to your son. The would, however, also bar you from pursuing child support from the father.

The other option is to seek child support and ask the court to significantly limit the father's visitation on the basis that he has not been involved in the child's life.

Ask for full custody. Judge may not give it to but see if you Ex-husband will give it up with out a fight. If you need assistance come see me.
