Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Child support

I have a 16 year old and a ten year old. My 16 year is going to live with their dad. He is telling me he does not have to paychild support at all for either one. He makes a lot more than me. Is this true?

Re: Child support

Not necessarily. At the moment, whatever the current order states, is what has to be paid. You should modify the order to reflect the change in conservatorship. Sometimes the child support is waived under these circumstances, and sometimes not -- he would pay you 20% for the 10 year old, and you would pay him 20% for the 16 year old, both of which would terminate at high school grad/18 years old. See a lawyer to get this done correctly.
