Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

child support

I am a 22 yr old male who has a 4 1/2 son. I moved to Texas to be by my son from CA. I am behind in CS (5000) in CA and not behind here in Tx. I have had my hours cut in half, yet they take 50% out of my checks etc. I cannot live, had to move back into mom's etc. Isn't there anything I can do. The Tx. CS people just give blank looks and are not helpful. Is there a lawyer that might help me out there? I should at least be able to set a certain amount and be able to live. My mom watches my son for free FT, as well as let her move in when she was thrown out of her home. Help please. I am not a deadbeat dad, just broke.

Re: child support

You need to get the order modified to reflect your current income. Sometimes it is possible to do on your own through a Child Support Review with the OAG. Ask them to schedule you for one -- they should be able to provide you with the paperwork.

There are organizations that assist fathers in securing their rights, you can locate them online or through the State Bar.
