Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Husband screws around, and wife gets screwed over...

Woman and man (doctor) have sex. Woman finds out that she has genital herpes. Woman tells man, and man blames the woman. Woman marries man.

Woman later finds a prescription written for man by man for Genital Herpes medication dated before man even knew woman.

Woman decides to get a job. Woman chooses a not so profitable field for write-off for man.

Marriage has been rocky. Woman knows man is doing something wrong. Woman hires PI and finds out man is having an affair and spending tons of money at strip joints.

The estate totals around $900K. They have been married for 9.5 years. Since they have not been married for 10 years, she most likely does not qualify for spousal support. She will probably get $500K of the estate, and start her new life with an average income of $50K. Her lifestyle is going to be dramatically changed. His on the otherhand will continue on as normal since he makes around $300K. She is most likely going to have to work well past her retirement years.

Can anyone offer advice or help in this matter? They live in a conservative town and her lawyer is an ex-judge who is also conservative. I am afraid that she is going to totally lose out and pay for it for the rest of her life.

While you may not qualify for alimony, you may get more than 50% of the estate for two reasons, one your income is less than his and two, for his fault in breaking up the marriage. In addition, are you sure about the value of the maritial estate? If you live in North Texas area, give me a call if you like for me to assist you with this.
