Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas

Trafic accident

i was pulling out of a parking lot, when a 18 wheeler can around a corner on a feeder and hit me in the driver door. My car was total, i got some scratches from a shattered glass, no injures. I got my car totaled and towed away, my insurance covered all my loses. All i saw was that 18-wheeler got his passenger side bumper dent, he was able to drive off after accident. Now my insurance agents contacted me to let me know that lowers of a 18-wheeler driver contacted my insurance for info about how much is my coverage and if i have umbrella policy to cover his injures. I think he is trying to scam me, I do not believe that anyone in his car could ever suffer any injures, esp from hitting my car (traveling at no more then 5mph) at a max speed of 20mph while. My question is: should i give them that info they ask from my insurance?

Re: Trafic accident

You should contact your insurance company directly, and let them know what happened. Your policy likely contains language that requires you to inform them of situations such as this. They should handle this for you. BE SURE TO DOCUMENT ALL COMMUNICATIONS WITH THEM. Keep a diary or notebook by the phone, and make a folder for your records, just in case something goes awry. In the notebook, keep a list of dates, times, personnel with whom you spoke, nature of the communications and claim numbers. THIS IS IMPORTANT.
