Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

Here's the issue: When I renewed the lease at my apartment complex, I told them that I wanted to keep the detached garage from my previous contract. It was added to the new lease, I signed the contract, and went my merry way. Just two days ago (4 months later), I open my detached garage and all my stuff is gone. I look at my contract and the garage is on my contract. I never received a call or notice that my belonging were going to be taken out. Looking back at my monthly statements, the garage was never added to my bill so I have not been paying on it. I believe that's a screw up in my apartment complex's billing department. I would have paid if I knew it wasn't on my monthly invoice. The point is that it is on my contract and I feel I have ownership of the garage despite billing department never adding it to my invoice. Do I have a case if they refuse to pay the value of my belongings they tossed away? Or even if they refuse me rightful ownership of the garage?

Who took your stuff out of the garage?

If it was your lessor, you should demand the return of the property (do it in WRITING - paper letter - lick a stamp - keep a copy of the letter). If they don't respond, sue their socks off.

In the meantime, start making a list (as best you can remember) of the stuff that was in the garage, and its value. Did you perhaps take a photograph of the inside of the garage?
