Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

My grand-daughter told me if she gets married and her husband adopts her daughter she can still collect child support from her daughter's birth father. She lives in UT. I could see her collecting back child but not on going child support.

If her husband adopts her daughter, the birth father's parental rights are terminated and so is his child support obligation. He would still be required to pay any back child support still owing up to the time of the adoption. Basically, you're correct and your grand daughter is not. I hope this helps.
