Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Hi i paid $2000 dollars to my friend through bank of America, he told me he will give back in two weeks..now its almost 3 months.. he didnt give the money.,. i tried so many times.. he lied that he will give in 2 days...but now he changed number.... i have email conversation with him about money,, is there any legal way i can get back my money.

Sue him in small claims court.
