Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

Racial Profiling

What can a motorist do to prove that he was not speeding in Virginia? I was stopped by an officer that allegely clocked me while I was in traffic behind another vehicle. I was not going any faster than the vehicle that I was behind and found myself at a traffic light being the only non-White driver. After proceeding through the light, I was allegely paced for two miles speeding while the other vehicles turned off the road. During this pace time, the speed limit changed to a higher rate, but I was allegely clocked while in traffic. In a small rural Virginia area, you are convicted of a traffic offense before court, because court is just a formality. How can motorist defend themselves, since an officer's testimony is like the word of God. Officers are people and have been known to lie. I know that my day in court will be overshadowed by the officer's testimony and no matter what I say, I will leave with a conviction based on his statement. Can I find help?

Re: Racial Profiling

I wish there was an answer for you. You probably

should work to get the General Assembly to change

the laws. But I have proved conclusively that

my client was NOT speeding, and the judge

believed the Sheriff's deputy instead. I proved

it was mathematically impossible, based on the

distance the car travelled and the number of

seconds the officre observed the car. Yet the

Sheriff's deputy "testi-lied" on the stand and

the judge was annoyed at me for proving that it

was mathematically impossible.
