What the age when judge listens to child

What is the age of a child in which a judge listens and asks the child about their thoughts on where they want to live.

In WA that is never (directly), but indirectly through a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) a judge may listen at any age, but more weight is given as the child gets older and more weight is given when a reasonable explanation of why the child should live somewhere is presented.
