Legal Question in Family Law in Wisconsin

Interstate custody/child support laws

I currently live in and was divorced in Texas, but the child custody was determined by Wisconsin, I (single father) recently received primary placement and the boys (twins) reside with me in Texas. Wisconsin made no child support determination. Can I file and receive support through Texas law? Can the whole case be transferred to Texas? What federals laws apply to the transfer of jurisdiction?

I disagree with Mr. Aspinwall. If the children have lived with you for 6 months, you can seek to transfer jurisdiction from WI to TX and make your motion to modify in TX for child support. If I can help you with this matter, call 1-877-320-5232

Re: Interstate custody/child support laws

Federal law does not apply.

WI retains jurisdiction over minor children.

TX has no jurisdiction over your ex.

Child support will have to be dealt with in WI.
