Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Trinidad and Tobago

Hi, my great aunt has died and left a will and deed to my grandfather, my grandfather which died abroad, did not make a will or attempt to put the deed on his name. One of his children from abroad came and gave the will and deed to my father, he is the eldest of the three children still alive. He in turn did not do a probate on the deed and ended up loosing it to one of his nieces living on the property (they stole it). Now i see that they have changed the name on the light bill, which can only be done if they have probated the deed. Cant i do a search on my own without paying $600.00 which i don't have right now? Or what else can be done.
