child visitation

my ex husband is currently in prison. he is says he is getting out early 2004. he wants to be able to see our daughter as soon as he gets out. our divorce states the basic visitation. he owes over $15,000 in back child support, plus other expenses. do i have to let him get my daughter as soon as it is convienient for him?

You do not say how long he was in prison, or for what, or what kind of relationship he had with your daughter before prison, or how old she is, etc. These are factors. If you are concerned about a problem, you could file a motion with the court requesting that his visitation rights be stopped or modified, depending on the reason for your request. Also, you might request a period of limited or supervised visitation until you daughter gets used to him again. You need to get with an attorney in your area.
