Legal Question in Workers Comp in Alabama

hurt at work

My husband got hurt at work, his employer does not have workman's compensation. What are the laws about this? I think his employer should be resonsible for hospital bills and lost time.

Re: hurt at work

There is an employers liability act to take care of these situations. Also,if the employer was required to have comp. but did not, there is a double payment penalty as well as a criminal statute that has been violated. You should see a competent atty in your area, they will probably be glad to give you a free consultation because this would be a contingency fee case. I am in Northwest Ala.(Hamilton). If this is near you feel free to call. Good Luck
