Must one have a will when setting up an executor? Or can one simply transfer property via adding another person onto personal property?

First, lets define some terms:

Will - the document that your write that says who you want to have your property after you die.

Executor - Also known as a "personal representative". This is the person is named in your will. This person's job is to distribute your property in accordance with the will.

Real Property - Also known as "real estate." This means land and anything attached to the land (like a house).

Personal Property - Any property that is not Real Property.

So, with those definitions in mind, please resubmit your question.
