Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Debt collection

I have an outstanding debt from 2000. If I paid a small sum to the debt collector in 2006, does this mean that the statute of limitations is no longer valid.

Re: Debt collection

I disavow my answer of 8/30/07 to this question, and no reliance thereon is justified.

After a review of the law, I am unclear as to what effect the partial payment has on the statute of limitations on these facts.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: Debt collection

The statute of limitation on a written contract in California is four years.

Your paying those small amounts in 2006 will not affect the running of the SOL.
