wage garnishment

I have a balance that was due on Feb 15th, and I was to have it paid by then, I payed a portion of the balance, how long will it take before they try to garnish my wages? and how could I get more time to pay the balance

Depending on the amount you owe, it could be never or in several months. If it's a bank or auto lender and not a taxing agency, it would have to file a lawsuit and obtain a judgment before executing against your wages or bank account. One would hope that you can pay it off soon. You might call the lender and see if you can work something out.
