Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

our child

my new wife and i just found out that her son may have been molested when he was 5 years old.he came to her and told her that,her xbf did some things to him when they were together..some touching and i think oral but we are not sure.with it being 6 years later,what can we do about it?he seems to be ok and we are getting help anyways.is it worth taking to the police and bringing this all up again for her son?any advice on if we should report or not would be helpful..thank you.

Report it. Prosecutors have real expertise in dealing with such young victims of sex crimes. If it turns out to be too traumatic for the boy the D.A. can drop the case, but you will never know if you and your girlfriend don't speak up.

Report the crime. child molestation is a horrible crime. If you do not report the crime, chances are the individual will do it again. Ask her son if he wants to report the crime and listen to what he says as well.

Let the district attorney decide if they want to pursue the incident, but if you do not report it then it goes unnoticed and it will occur again.
