Can i do anything legal wise if the Events Directer were we held our wedding reception told a mutual friend a bunch of lies by saying we did not pay, that our credit cards were fraud and that we are lucky he does not file fraud charges. What a tacky and horrible way to celebrate one of the most joyous days of your lives!

If your friends believed it, then you might have a claim for defamation. If they didn't believe it, then you have no claim. One would hope that this person no longer has the job and is no longer involved in a people-oriented business.
