Re: how long on record

Usually a DUI is a criminal conviction and there is more involved than just getting a ticket. If you pled guilty in California and fulfilled the terms of your probation, even if the probation included some jail time, you can get the arrest and conviction wiped-out ("expunged") from your record. The process is fairly straightforward but you probably ought to involve a lawyer if you can afford it because it needs to be done correctly. You also need to involve a lawyer if you did not successfully complete your probation or if you had probation violations. The process works well for most private sector jobs, but not for most government jobs, and your prior record will still show if you have any future criminal charges.

Forever. But they only count as 'priors' for prosecution for ten years. You could try to expunge them, which would allow you to answer 'no' to employment application questions. If interested, contact me to discuss facts and fees.
