case dismissal

I had acourt appearance in 1995 that was supossed to have been dismissed yet when I applied for an insurance license it was showing on my records. After speaking to several departments I was informed it was stil an open case. how can this be since attended court and the judge stated ''case dismissed''. Now I'm being informed that I need to go to court for this. there was a stenographer present wouldn't there some sort of record?

There is no way to get an answer over the internet. You should retain an attorney in the area where the case was filed to investigate the case. The attorney will need the case number, the names of the parties and the court in which the case was pending. After the attorney investigates the case you can be advised as to the options.
