Legal Question in Family Law in California

As the custodial Parent and with no court order. Can deny the non custodial parent visitation with my children on weekdays. He can see them every other weekend. If he tries to take them can i get a restraining order?

You need a court order in place if you wish to protect your children and yourself.

Why bother with a restraining order when all you need is a custody order? If you try to get a restraining order, the judge will ask you exactly that question.
