married or not?

i married a man some 20 years ago in las vegas. he was sent to prison then i found out that that was not his llegal name. i have since tried to contact him to see the status of our marriage. it seem he has disappeared off the face of the eart. i have remarried because i felt that the person was not real so i a cant be married to someone who does not exist. please advise me

Even if he did not use his real name and used an alias, you could still have been married to him. It is very possible that you required a divorce from this individual before marying your new beau.
