I have to tell you from the outset that a 170.1 is a long shot. I'm not urging you to hire an attorney, but you should at least get a consultation with one. I think every attorney at some point has had a judge on one of their cases that they are stuck with that has a serious personality issue. I can think of a couple out of hundreds of judges that I have appeared in front of just in my life.

A 170.1 has all kinds of tricky rules, and they tend to get denied. This means you are still stuck with the problem judge, and now he or she does not like you even more.
