Legal Question in Medical Leave in California

Sign papers agreeing not to become pregnant.

Can my employer request that I sign papers stating that I will not become pregnant during my probation period? My male co-workers are not requested to sign papers stating that they will not have children during this period. Their wives have had children and they take time off for maternity leave. Is this legal? If I signed such a paper can my employer fire me or retaliate against me if I become pregnant during this period?

Re: Sign papers agreeing not to become pregnant.

It is absolutely not legal to require an employee to sign such an agreement nor would it be binding. An employer cannot fire an employee for becoming pregnant, even during a probationary period. This is discriminatory.
