Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Door Dings

My neighbor that parks next to me (assigned parking), seems to be door dinging my car. All the dings are at the same level and one of them has thier paint on it. I have no witnesses. Is there anything I can do?

Assuming there was no damage/dents on your door before this neighbor caused these dents you are referring to, you probably have a claim for damages. You can obtain estimates from repair shops and send a letter to your neighbor to pay you the cost of repair. If she refuses, you can file a suit (in Small Claims Court, if damages are under $7,500) to recover your damages. You should consult your own attorney to protect your legal rights.

Re: Door Dings

Before doing what Mr. Mashal suggests, you might talk to your neighbor in a nonconfrontational way and ask the neighbor to be more careful. Perhaps the neighbor would want to look at your car and resolve the matter with you.

If your neighbor has kids, perhaps it is they who are doing the damage. Your neighbor has to instruct the kids how to take care not to damage others' property.

Re: Door Dings

Interesting how both attorneys assumed it is a female neighbor who dinged your car door....
