assualt at work by an employer

I am a security guard at the site were i was assin .an employee asualted me. I presed charges at the police station,I went to my employer doctor now the doctor sent me back to work on lite duty which security is very lite duty i let my job know and they told me i cant go to work yet becuase it's being investagated I had to file for uniployement because of this investagation. I finally got a lawer for the assuault but my job told my lawer that i sing the worker comp paper work and the lawer cannot help me i do not get any money from workers comp only medical treatment so what do i do. please reply.
