Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Can a corporation outlaw sunglasses for staff working in direct sunlight?

I work for a number of catering companies in San Diego county and 2 of them have a policy of not allowing their employees to wear sunglasses while working outside looking directly into the sun. I have sensitive eyes and I know they are damaged when I am forced to work without wearing glasses to protect my eyes from the dangerous rays of the sun. Are these policies legal? What can I do to let my employer know that this is harmful to me and what law statute, if any, should I cite to thwart these policies.

If you don't like the rules, you're free to find other employment. Such dress codes are quite 'legal'.
