Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I am a full time salaried employee. I went out on a Doctor's note for one week, my employer reclassified me to hourly and backdated it to the beginning of the last pay period, is that legal?

The reclassification is legal. An employer can change the terms and conditions of employment at will. It is not legal, however, to do so retroactively.
