Legal Question in Employment Law in California

quiting a job?

I'm currently on CA state disability -- my doctor checks in with me about every two months and has been putting me on disability for about two months at a time --she also recommends finding different employment because working with children is basically hazardous (I have MS -autoimmune) and was getting seriously ill about every month --probably from the children-- my employer (I work at a school), keeps calling to find out if I'm going back to work or if I'm quitting -- which makes me feel uncomfortable because according to the state disability office I cannot quit a job and receive disability -- my question? what do I say to my employer? I've been recommended by the disability office not to quit. Many thanks

Re: quiting a job?

Tell your employer you are currently on disability and will follow your doctor's directions. Ask them to accommodate your disability by not putting additional stress on you by pressuring you into making a decision you cannot make while on disability.
