Legal Question in Employment Law in California

i was recently let go from a company that i was working for as a subcontractor(to save them money). iwas 1099'd so i was let go for voicing my opinions to higher management regarding the behavior of my supervisor. i went over his head. was let go and now my ex boss is spreading rumors that i was on drugs and drinking on the job. even though i had submitted a u.a just 2 weeks before during random testing. is this considered slander?

If the statements are false, it is slander. It could also be an invasion of privacy.

Slander requires proof of false statements made about you. If you can prove that through witnesses or other admissible evidence, and can prove the false statements caused you an actual financial loss, like lost job, etc., then you have potential grounds for a lawsuit. In that case, feel free to contact me.
