Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I have a restaurant and want to hire a trainee to be a waitress. She has little or no experience. Am I allowed to pay her a reduced hourly rate while training. She will be keeping all her own tips.

Yes, as long as you pay her at least minimum wage - Currently $9.00 per hour in Calif.
