Legal Question

Unlawful termination

I went out on sick leave for surgery. I have been employed there 4 yrs. During this off time the first surgery did not take and I was required to have a second surgery. I have been off 5 mos. and was expecting to return in 2-3 wks. Then I received a letter of separation. Can they do this to me without warning ?
