Working overtime

I work 45 hours per week but my employer posted a memo that all employes work an extra four hours on a weekend. If we did not work the hours we would be written up. Can my employer do this?

There is nothing unlawful about an employer requiring employees to work overtime. Of course, if you are a non-exempt employee (as defined by law, not necessarily the employer), you must be paid at the overtime premium for all hours worked in excess of 8 a day or 40 a week.
