Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Car Insurance Policy ?s

I was severlly injured in a car accident. I am on my 2nd attorney and when I retained him, he immediatley sent a 30 day demand to other party's insurance, however, they did not respond. I recently had spinal surgery and am going to mediation without the other party doing a deposition. Is that normal? Also, the other insurance indicated ''open policy,'' what exactly does that mean?

Don't know the answer to the last question. Don't know what you mean by a 30 day demand either. Ask your attorney outright, does the other party have liability insurance. If so, what are the policy limits. Have you done an asset search on the other party to determine what resources he or she may have beside the auto liability carrier.

I agree/with Mr. Roth.

My check of an "open policy" is that it is almost always used with insuring maritime ocean going vessels with large cargos.
