Injury due to pit in can

A friend opened a can of peaches and bit into one and broke his tooth on a pit. What should I tell him to do?

Get his tooth fixed if he's in pain. One could reasonably argue that pits -- even in canned fruit -- are to be expected from time to time. He can write to the canning company and send it a copy of his dentist's bill for repair, asking for compensation. See what they say.
