Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Entitled for Compensation or Kicked Out

Mom died and the house had thousands of dollars of deferred maintenance (roof, dry rot, paint, a/c, kitchen, bath, carpet, etc.). I moved-in and spent countless hours making repairs to the interior, exterior and landscaping. The neighbors were ready to call Code Enforcement because my brother allowed the front yard to become an eyesore, devaluing the area. I also had to sell, donate or discard moms property. This was very emotionally taxing. I paid utilities during occupancy. Am I entitled to be compensated for my providing security, repairs, maintenance and distribution of moms property? Do I HAVE to move and how much time. I've lived here 15 months. Thank you.

I am sorry for your loss. The answer will depend on who your mother left the property to, and whether you have been occupying the property over the objections of any co-owners. You should immediately consult your own attorney to protect your legal rights.
