The 5% rate is different than a settlement amount.

The 5% will give you the right to receive a certain number of weeks of payments, depending on what part of your body has been given the 5%. If it is the low back (lumbar spine), 5% will give you 18.7 weeks of benefits.

A settlement is where you get paid a certain amount, usually at once, and in exchange the insurance company is no longer responsible for paying any more benefits or medical bills.

If a doctor is suggesting surgery, you really should speak to an attorney before you agree to anything. We are located on the Hartford - West Hartford line, we do not charge for an initial interview, and we take a fee only if your case is successful.
