Legal Question in Banking Law in Florida

i co-signed with my son to get a car with Central Credit Union and he also has a credit card with them that he has not paid. i tried to make car payment and they refused it because of the credit card. can they do this? i just want to try to keep my credit clean what should my next step be? i have been told that if a company refuses your payment that you do not owe them anything else. is this true? if so, how do i get the title to car?

thank you, Kathleen Booker

First of all, it does not make sense that the credit union would not accept your car payment. It just makes no sense at all. So, either there is something else going on here, or you misunderstood. Second, their refusal to take your payment does not absolve you from further payment on the loan. Don't take legal advise from random people who haven't gone to law school.

Contact the Credit Union and figure out what is really going on here. An attorney may be able to help if you want to pay the attorney to investigate the situation and write a letter.
