Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I got pulled over out of town.The officer did not tell me why he pulled me over.The arrest report said it was for a tag light,But no ticket or warning was issued.Is this legal?Any info would help me.

It's suspicious for an officer to do it (because it looks like the officer is just saying the tag light is out as an excuse to search the car for drugs), but it is legal for an officer to pull a car over for a bad tag light and not issue a ticket nor tell the driver why the car was pulled over.
