Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Divorce real estate equity split

In divorce I got the house and agreed to give ex half of what was put down on the house (15000) which has since turned disappeared through housing deline. My papers say ''the wife shall maintain an equity interest in said home in the amount of 7500. The husband shall pay to the wife, the sum of 7500.00. without interest within two years of final divorce.'' My question is: If there is no remaining ''equity'' in the house do I still have to pay her 7500?

Re: Divorce real estate equity split

of course you owe her 7500. You know that there is always changes in the housing market. You wouldn't want to be stuck paying here equity interest of 15000 when the housing market turns around.
