if I make a payment and put pd in full in momo/for is that legal and pd in full

It depends. There is no simple answer to this question. Writing in the memo only may not be sufficient.

If the amount is disputed by the parties and a payment in full is made and knowingly accepted, it is an accord and satisfaction. A valid argument of payment in full can be made.
