Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

I am asking this for a friend that has been "Black Balled" from being able to find work because of her previous boss. He told her that he would make sure that she would not be able to get a job after leaving him. She is (and was for him) a Very hard worker. She would even pull 24 to 48 hours straight when needed to get the job done. He paid her (actually all his employees, myself included) with a 1099 to keep from having to pay our taxes thru his business. I have been out with her job hunting and know that what she has been applying for she is more than qualified to do. But has yet been able to even get a call back from any of them. She/we are pretty sure he is not talking favorably to anyone that calls about her but can not prove that. Is there a way to find out what he is saying? And what is the law in regards to "What" he is allowed to say. If he is keeping her from being employed by what he is saying does she have a case against him?

Thank you for any help you may be able to give her.

In order to prove the case you would have to get statements confirming the suspicion from all of the potential employers. It sounds to me like there may be a federal suit to be filed against the former employer. You would have to find a law firm which handles federal cases dealing with employment. Do an internet search for one.
